Cohort Districts Show Demonstrable Growth
Cohort districts from throughout the state have worked alongside the NJTSS-ER support team for three years to strengthen leadership teams, increase educator knowledge on evidence-based literacy instruction and strengthen tiered instruction and intervention.
In the latest cohort of eight districts scaling implementation of NJTSS for early reading, the proportion of K-3 students attaining phonics benchmarks increased an average of 20% in only a year and a half.
Spotlight on Universal Screeners
Universal screening is conducted multiple times per year with all students.
Screening data can be used to guide adjustments to tier 1 instruction to ensure that it meets the majority of students’ needs and to identify which students require follow up diagnostic assessment to inform intervention.
Training on universal screening is available through online learning courses and the resource library.
